The Art Show – a great success!

 

It started a year ago, as a thought – could our club run an art show to highlight the work of local artists?  A show to bring value to the community, and possibly pay for itself as well. A few of us got together and started to figure out how it could work. We were fortunate in that one member of the team was able to establish contact with artists, and slowly the ideas came together. Where – the Redcliffs Bowling Club (now Club Redcliffs); how do we display the works? - hire panels. Can we find some generous sponsors to support us financially through the spending phase, until money came in from the show?

So we were off, with a project ahead of us, everything set for a grand opening in March this year.

Then Covid hit! Life was on and off, uncertain.  Sometimes people could meet, then others were back in isolation. Uncertainty is not good for a project like running a show. What would happen if we had everything ready to open, then another lockdown occurred? Too great a risk – so we postponed the event.

Recently, after an uncertain winter, spring certainly started to look promising – so we re-formed the team, with a couple of changes and additions, and away we went for the second time.  And this time it worked – no Covid – glorious weather, people getting out again after a couple of difficult years.

We couldn't have done it without our wonderful sponsors that kept faith with us and the artists too, many of whom had ‘paid’ for space at the time of the first attempt.
