A Christchurch solo mum and her two daughters have enjoyed a generous slice of Christmas cheer, thanks to the generosity of Ferrymead Rotarians. The Methodist Mission identified a deserving family and the Rotary members filled and funded a giant hamper of food and Christmas goodies. Some even dug deeper into their pockets to add a few extra treats.
Club members had some solid information (not personal details) to go on; they knew the daughters’ ages and something of their individual interests. The emphasis was on presents that all of the family could enjoy, spiced with items to cater for specific tastes and interests. The result was an array that included games, books and book vouchers, jewellery, hand cream and soap, nail polish, make-up bags and kits, blankets, games…even a tutu and a ‘squishmellow’ toy.
